New Playground Equipment - now ready!
Thanks to the $25,000 grant received from the State Farm "Cause An Effects" program, and an additional grant through the equipment manufacturer, GameTime, we were able to purchase over $50,000 worth of equipment for half price. The City of Atlanta employees and numerous volunteers worked hard over the last few weeks and the project is now done!
Be sure to take your children or grandchildren to the park to try it out! Click the button below for larger views of the equipment and layout. Easter Egg Hunt in the park a success!
The Park District's Easter egg hunt was enjoyed by over 50 Atlanta area children on Saturday, March 30th. Children were separated into 2 age groups for the hunt: 2 - 4 years and 5 - 8 years and each age group had a specific area with eggs. All children received a bag of candy, no matter the number of eggs collected. Monetary and special candy prizes were awarded and one child from each age group also found an egg that earned them an Easter basket donated by Sams Club and Dollar General.
A big thanks to the Boy Scout troop for helping with the setup, distribution of the eggs and candy! Carolyn Patton Nuckolls donates art and hall tree!
The Park District has received a wonderful donation of 2 art works, a WWI helmet and hall tree from Carolyn Patton Nuckolls. She is the daughter of Dick Patton and these items used to sit in the Memorial Home when it was used as a residence by her family in the 1930s. We are so thankful for this gift and are proud to have those items placed in about the same locations that they originally set! Pictures can be viewed by clicking here, but also stop by and enjoy them in person.
